This photo series documents an amphibious assault conducted from the flight decks and well deck of the USS Kearsarge to the beaches of Kristianstad, Sweden, during the ship’s 2022 deployment in support of multinational training operations.
The images capture U.S. Marines and Sailors deploying from ship to shore alongside Swedish forces as part of joint exercises designed to strengthen amphibious capability, interoperability, and regional defense readiness. These landings were conducted as part of large scale Baltic Sea operations involving NATO allies and partner nations, where amphibious forces trained together to execute coordinated beach assaults and reinforce collective security in the region.
The photographs focus on the physical transition between sea and land, documenting the movement of personnel, aircraft, and landing craft as they carried Marines from the ship into a foreign shoreline. This series preserves the coordination, scale, and immediacy of amphibious warfare training, showing how naval and ground forces operate together to project presence, establish access, and execute missions beyond the horizon.
